
Business Plan
The SDBS Business plan 2024-2027 builds upon our current school vision and priority areas, in addition to outlining the strategies and targets we have set. Our five school priority areas have been selected through rigorous self-assessment, meeting the key domains of the Public School Review. The business plan is aligned with the Department of Education’s strategic directions for public schools ‘Every student, every classroom, every day”. SDBS’s business plan is supported by a collection of documents to ensure effective implementation, including operational, workforce and financial plans.

Strategies:
Promote further connections and partnerships with the school community, families and local schools.
Seek out and engage with our Aboriginal families, community members and agencies to support further connection and understanding of local Aboriginal histories and experiences.
Build upon interagency collaborations with key stakeholders, including statewide services.
Increase partnerships with agencies that support successful secondary and post school pathways.
Targets:
Progress parent engagement in the National School Opinion Survey to over 50%.
Progress staff engagement in the National School Opinion Survey to over 80%.
Recruit and train new members of the school board.
Develop a Reconciliation Action Plan.
Seek out support from similar schools to create a targeted plan for post school pathways.
Liase with external agencies which support post school, work placement, microbusiness opportunities and family support.

Strategies:
Utilise responsive and systematic strategies to engage students with low attendance at school.
Develop a cohesive health and wellbeing program from K-12.
Improve data collection to support behaviour and engagement.
Complete an overall review of Operational and Workforce plans to maintain correct budgets and align with current business plan goals.
Engage outside agencies to educate staff on improving and eliminating restrictive practice, with a focus on safety for staff and students.
Targets:
Create an Attendance Plan that outlines a structure of engagement with low attenders.
Develop a whole school health and wellbeing plan that links together all ongoing programs.
Provide clear processes for the collection of behaviour and engagement data across the school.
Link effective budgeting and cost centre managers to Operational Plans.
Review the schools workforce plan to ensure its validity and alignment to school priorities.
Continue to review and reduce instances of restrictive practice across the campus.

Strategies:
Build staff capacity to lead and manage annual Operational plans, including the financial management.
Review all student assessment, curriculum, IEP and reporting requirements, and formulate a clear outline for new and current staff to follow.
Utilise and review data from student assessments, staff and family surveys to validate best practice across the school and set improvement markers from this.
Targets:
Create and utilise annual Operational plans which target key areas, including Literacy and Maths.
Develop a comprehensive Curriculum, Assessment and Reporting (CAR) document to guide whole school expectations.
Provide distributed leadership opportunities through leading and supporting a variety of leadership teams.
Utilise data sets from student, staff and community assessments to progress the school against the current priority areas.

Strategies:
Update and review the current induction pack, ensuring the inclusion of curriculum, assessment, behaviour support and wellbeing requirements.
Develop a consistent way of writing SMART IEP goals through collaboration with teaching staff.
Create a comprehensive plan for professional learning which aligns to the schools priorities, staff performance development, is evidence-based and impacts student achievement.
Targets:
Build a comprehensive induction process for new staff to ensure high levels of quality teaching are met.
Utilise CAR document to set whole-school expectations for pedagogical practices, including the scaffolding of SMART IEP goals.
Use staff performance development sessions to build upon growth, support with professional learning, and maintain high teaching quality.

Strategies:
Utilise effective and systematic data collection for IEP goals and school wide assessments, to inform reports, ensure progression, and make needed change.
Review behaviour support processes to ensure key documents are current, targeted, evidence-based and responsive to student’s needs.
Targets:
Create a whole-school system for data collection, analysis, review and progression through the CAR document.
Implement longitudinal data tracking for school wide assessments including Letters and Sounds and ROCC, to monitor efficacy of programs.
Review and update behaviour support plans and practices to align with current Department requirements.
Create a comprehensive Behaviour Policy to ensure consistent procedures and processes across the school.
